Arizona State vs UW-Milwaukee - NCAA Regional Baseball Recap(No. 1 National Seed) Arizona State 6, UW-Milwaukee 2
Merrill Kelly starred on the mound, delivering a high-level performance to lead the No. 1 Arizona State Sun Devils to a convincing win over UW-Milwaukee in the Tempe Regional of the NCAA baseball tournament on Friday. Kelly settled down after a tough first inning, allowing only three hits and two runs (one earned) in eight strong innings. He got the win to improve to 10-2, carrying the load on a day when just a few big hits were needed from ASU’s potent lineup
Deven Marrero gave ASU an early lead with a two-run double in the second inning. Kole Calhoun followed in the third with a three-run home run in the third inning for the home team to make the score 5-1. Kelly did the rest, and the Panthers were history. The Sun Devils will face Hawai'i, who defeated San Diego 4-3 on Friday. The Arizona State-UH game will take place on Saturday at 10 p.m. Eastern at Brock Ballpark. San Diego will face UW-Milwaukee in an elimination game at 5 p.m. Eastern.
