No. 30 Toreros topple Oregon State, 4-1San Diego has won 14 of its last 15
James Meador and Tony Strazzara had three hit games to lead No. 30 San Diego to a 4-1 victory over Oregon State on Monday at Goss Stadium in Corvallis. The Toreros (31-16) took a 1-0 lead in the first when Tony Strazarra singled to right field to score Chris Engell. The Beavers (24-18) knotted the game at one in the fourth when Stefen Romero slugged his 12 th home run of the season.
USD would re-take the lead in the sixth. James Meador delivered a two-out double to right center and Tony Strazzara brought him home with a single to left. The Toreros added two insurance runs in the eighth. OSU starter Kraig Sitton fell to 1-2. He allowed just two runs—both earned—on five hits in 5.2 innings. The Beavers would use five pitchers in relief of Sitton. Chris Jenson improved to 2-0 for San Diego. He gave up just one run on four hits in six innings. The Beavers will host Washington in a three-game series this weekend. USD travels to Eugene for a contest with Oregon today.
