No. 5 Purdue (27-9) 76, No. 4 Washington (26-9) 74
Key Moment: E'Twaun Moore's game sealing free throws with 5.5 seconds to play.
High Point Scorers: Purdue -- JaJuan Johnson 22 Washington -- Isaiah Thomas 24
Analysis: Even with a home court crowd, the Huskies were not sharp defensively and allowed Purdue to get as many shots as possible. The Boilermakers raced out to as big as a 14-point lead at 35-21 and then had to hang on. Surprisingly, the Pac 10 regular season champions just could not make enough stops. Twice they cut the lead to two. And credit center Jon Brockman who scored 20 points.
What's Next: The Boilermakers advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2000 and face No. 1 Connecticut which blew out No. 9 Texas A&M, 92-66. Purdue is going to have to control the pace with Robbie Hummel, Johnson and Moore and get great games from there. If they become seduced to join a track meet with Connecticut's scoring options with A.J. Price and Stanley Robinson, their stay won't be long. They may want to attack Uconn center Hasheem Thabeet.
